Amvuttra® (vutrisiran) is designed to treat hereditary transthyretin (hATTR) amyloidosis with polyneuropathy, previously referred to as familial amyloid polyneuropathy. This rare genetic disorder is caused by the abnormal buildup of transthyretin proteins in diverse tissues and impacts the peripheral nerves.

Amvuttra is classified as a gene-silencer, aiming to inhibit production of the transthyretin (TTR) protein in the liver, thereby reducing the levels of TTR in the body. The active ingredient, vutrisiran, prevents amyloid build-up and organ damage.
