Avsola (infliximab-axxq) is used to treat certain types of arthritis, certain bowel diseases, as well as plaque psoriasis and ankylosing spondylitis.
In these inflammatory conditions, the immune system becomes overactive and produces excess amounts of a protein called TNF-alpha (tumor necrosis factor alpha), which causes it to attack healthy cells. Avsola blocks the action of TNF-alpha, preventing inflammation.

How it's Administered
Avsola is administered by intravenous infusion. Avsola infusions take about two hours.
Frequency
Avsola is administered every eight weeks (every 6 weeks for ankylosing spondylitis) after an induction regimen that includes three doses over six weeks.
