Feraheme (ferumoxytol) is an iron replacement therapy that is used to treat iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia occurs when the body lacks sufficient iron to produce an adequate number of red blood cells, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath.

Feraheme provides a source of supplemental iron to support the production of red blood cells and replenish iron stores in individuals with iron deficiency. This helps increase hemoglobin levels, improving oxygen transport and replenishing iron stores in the body.

Feraheme is specifically indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are not on dialysis. It is also used in patients with iron deficiency anemia who have intolerance to oral iron or have had an unsatisfactory response to oral iron supplementation.
